Great Scouting Life!

I inherited my love of the outdoors from my Alaskan Dad’s life and family camping. He & I started with Indian Guides then I jumped into Scouting while hospitalized after 6th grade back surgery. Camping, advancing, camaraderie, plus encouragement & recognition from family & troop guided me to Eagle, Vigil Honor in OA, God & Country, Report to the Nation candidate then Institutional Rep when my church’s troop needed leadership. Serving others led me into 2 years with Peace Corps, then 7 years directing a Christian service ministry providing short term service opportunities for youth & adults cross-culturally, followed by 7 years of country directorship with Compassion International, a Christian service organization empowering needy children, then 3 years with PLAN International as assistant country director facilitating holistic development for children. International living and multi-cultural experiences led me to obtain my Masters in International Affairs, Latin American studies. My wife and I met while I directed a Christian service group in Guatemala; our family of four lived and served in 3 other countries. Appreciating needs of others and Being Prepared guided me in my international service and still in my current credit union position plus active in our Spanish speaking church.
