Life Scout to Sea Explorer.

I am 78 years young. I started Scouting in the late fifties while in the 8th grade. The troop was located in Sharps, VA, on the Rappahannock River. There were approximately 12 young men in the troop the Scout Master was Charles Lewis. We went on camping trips and worked on Merit Badges at our weekly meetings. We were taught to honor and respect everyone and to always “do the right thing.” I earned the rank of Life Scout and then we were transferred to the Sea Explorers. My experience led me to introduce Scouting to my son who is an Order of the Arrow Eagle Scout. He is now Scout Master at Glen Allen Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Va.
