My Scouting Story

I joined in 1975 as a Cub Scout. I had very hard working parents, but a neighborhood friend was a Scout and I thought it would be cool to be one too. Now, 46 years later, I still think it’s cool. I’ve learned so much and become the leader, father, husband, and friend that I am because I am a Scout. I completed my Eagle Scout Award in 1984, served on Camp Staff, was a Youth & Adult Leader in the Order of the Arrow, and have two sons that also earned their Eagle Scout Awards. Now, they are well on their way to a life of their own to be evaluated by the world on their own contributions. My company is better because of the values I apply to my everyday work that I learned as a Scout. If more people exhibited the Scout Oath & Law in their every day lives, our society would be better for it. If people did their best and were prepared, our conversations in all walks of life would be much different. I encourage the parents of any young person today to actually look at the program, the values, and choose to partner raising your children with like-minded families like mine. My community recognizes this and is far better for it.
