Scouting, a Family Legacy

My father was an Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver. My brother and I are Eagle Scouts. My cousins include Eagle Scouts. My two sons, Andrew & Rory, are Eagle Scouts. And most recently, my daughter McKenna is one of the Inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts. But this isn’t about us. Despite a memorable family journey, including National Jamborees, trips to Philmont and SeaBase, and lots of good old fashioned camping and hiking, the truth is this (the movement of Scouting) is about building better people. I once served as a BSA District Executive and Camp Director. The relationships I built there have lasted over 30 years. One of our number just passed away unexpectedly last week, and we all connected instantly with Scouts we knew so many years ago to pay tribute. We would not be the people we are without Scouting. Memories and relationships are important, but more importantly, we STILL build better people (including girls!) today. Our current society needs us more than ever. Help preserve the legacy, and help build a better future.
